      — he had only been paying attention PARTIALLY, thoughts floating elsewhere — to a world darkened by LOSS, burdened by the death of LOVE and the sudden emptiness of a heart once OVERFLOWING with admiration — but he must focus back to reality now. he must pay attention, for if his daughter is to have a healthy, prosperous existence here, he must assist this progression in any way necessary. that means, of course, helping with the MUNDANE, the thoughtless, the typically FEMININE attributes of the child’s life.

“ i will survive,” he remarks, as though his well-being or happiness therein has already fully dissipated; what GOOD was he to this world now ? yes, providing a surviving patriarchal lineage would prove to be BENEFICIAL to this small one, but what else did he have to show for it ? he released a soft sigh. “ …if you wouldn’t mind, could you RE-DO that for me ? I wasn’t PAYING ATTENTION. “

the loss of theodosia EFFECTED a lot of people; not as much as aaron though. this was the love of his life, the woman who bared his child—- she couldn’t even imagine the PAIN that she would feel if she lost alexander. as she finished and heard his words, she frowned slightly before nodding her head.       ❛ yeah, i— ❜       she was about to undo the braid, when she noticed the signs of theodosia jr., getting FUSSY. of course she didn’t like eliza playing with her tangles, but she needed to show aaron how to do this. she was too young to do her hair on her own, and he has NEVER had a daughter besides her.

❛ i would, but i don’t think your daughter LIKES it. ❜       she watched her hop off the chair, and she ran to her room, tugging at her hair.       ❛ you are a REALLY good father, i hope that you know that. your daughter really does love you. ❜       in no way was she surprised by that, she could never be surprised by it. aaron was a good person, but everyone tended to have different views on him, eliza always viewed him as—- he means well.       ❛ if you ever are too busy and need help, i don’t live far. my daughter angelica is a little younger than theo, but i’m sure the two would get along GREAT! philip  .  .  . well they’re a different story. ❜       he tended to try and one up the young burr child, he really was alexander’s son.       ❛ i’m here. ❜
