thomas:

It was never intentional, his talking shit about Hamilton. Well, maybe not NEVER, but at least a fair majority of the time. Sometimes the salt just spilled past his lips, and it was hard for him to just stop unless someone flat out told him to. No one quite got under his skin like Eliza’s husband did, and part of him hated himself for that one. It was like admitting defeat; letting that man WIN. And the last thing he was going to do was let that god forsaken- no, he’s doing it again. He caught it this time.

Thomas is more than relieved to see she doesn’t seem… too bothered by his talk. [Although, it is more than a little difficult to keep from making a face at her seemingly undying love for that man.] Or, at the very least, she’s happy to forgive it, which he’ll happily accept regardless. The poor girl probably heard enough complaints about the man to last a lifetime, and this was supposed to be an escape from all that. If only for a night.

Oh, he liked Eliza. Jefferson snickered to himself, taking the lady’s hand and pressing a grateful kiss to the back of it.See, I knew we were friends for a reason. Eliza Schuyler, ultimate hype woman. It was amusing, really, how vastly her opinion differed from her husband’s. Not so amusing how her husband decided to take advantage of her… naivete like he did. It made his blood boil every time he heard about it, despite the more positive implications it had for their political careers. At what cost?

❝ I’m jes’ sayin’, no one would blame you  for takin’ that way out. You deserve a hell of a lot better than that… man… can give you. You and the young'uns both. But they weren’t here to talk about that man. She’d made her distaste very clear. Thomas gave her hand a gentle squeeze before deciding to change the subject. Not exactly a happy one, but it wasn’t about Alexander. And, uh… how’re you and the kids doing since then, ma petite? Since… your son.

she tried to keep the smile up, she really did. she just wanted to be happy for thomas–– she wanted to be happen WITH thomas. she sighed to herself as she tilted her head to the side, leaning back in the chair, glancing at her untouched food.       ❛ things have been  .  .  . better, i suppose. alexander and i have been getting along more, so that is EASIER on the kids. we love are children, it’s not like i can divorce him though. ❜       she didn’t want to say that she COUDLN’T do something, when she was sitting in front of the man that could do everything. but, she couldn’t raise EIGHT kids on her own.       ❛ espesially because i’m pregnant. ❜

he was the first, besides alexander and her kids, to know about her pregnancy, as she wanted to keep it a secret. she was excited for a child, she loved children, more than she should.       ❛ if it’s a girl we are naming her margarita, after my younger sister of course. if it’s a boy, we are going to name him phil. i was joking around and said thomas, and he looked like he was about to throw his dinner plate at me. ❜       for the first time tonight, a real LAUGH escaped her lips, and she shook her head gently. the time that she was spending her was nice, and she was HAPPY.

❛ i hate to admit this, but i don’t think that i can raise eight kids by myself, i have trouble even with alexander. as much as i love them, i know that i would probably cry myself to sleep every night, just wanting a break. so unless you can find a babysitter that will come EVERYDAY, then i’ll get aaron burr to file my divorce. ❜       she rolled her eyes, starting to play with the food on her plate.
