thomas:

Maybe this wasn’t the best idea he’d ever had, but, well, Thomas liked Eliza. Unlike her husband, she was a kind soul and rather fun to have around. If he could deal with one without having to deal with the other, this would probably be more common of an occurrence.

Thomas made a bit of a face, absently stabbing his fork at the macaroni before him. She was right, of course; this wasn’t exactly the healthiest of obsessions. But then again, was there even such a thing as a healthy obsession?

❝ Je ne sais pas. He just rubs me the wrong way, I guess. He wouldn’t be the first.  ❞ A moment of silence before he continued, his upper lip twitching in annoyance. Struttin’ ‘round here like he knows everything, knows what’s best for everyone ever; fool can do no wrong because he’s got the damn PRESIDENT on his side, clearly. Everything that comes outta his fool mouth and everything he puts down on paper is pure gold because it comes from him.

Jefferson shakes his head then, eyes averting down to the plate before him. He’s being rude. No, I’m- I’m sorry, I’m not being a very good host, huh? I didn’t just call you down here so I could bitch about your hubby. I haven’t seen you in forever, mon colibri; I wanted to catch up.

there was a sigh that escaped her lips as she pushed a strand of hair behind her, looking around the room slightly. she didn’t WISH to listen to thomas talk bad about her husband, whether or not he deserved it. she needed to get out of the house, which is why she almost cried tears of joy when thomas asked her to visit.       ❛ oh thomas, PLEASE do not tell me that you are sorry. i can perfectly understand your distaste for my husband, as he is a very difficult man to get along with. i fell in love with his writing, which is what he is very passionate about. his mind works DIFFERENTLY than others, he doesn’t tend to think about his actions, you can’t blame him. ❜       many people have told her to stop defending him, but she doesn’t wish to.

there was a smile that formed when he said his last sentence, and she let out a soft laugh, nodding her head.       ❛ you were in FRANCE, of course we haven’t seen each other in forever. now you’re president, which i have to admit, you are going to make a GREAT president. ❜       she was honest about her opinion, much to alexander’s distaste.       ❛ but, you do know that a lot has been going on with me. what if my son dying and alexander cheating–– i haven’t had much time for friends. ❜       she liked thomas, she really did. he reminded her some of alexander, just the whole determination and the whole outlook on some things. that might be WHY she was so used to him.       ❛ and no, i am not divorcing him. i meant to write back to you about that when you asked me to come, as you had also mentioned that. but i thought it would be best to voice it here. i do NOT wish to divorce my husband, no matter how many years he cheated. ❜
